Will the support for non-HND routers be retired soon?

I have bought the GT-AX11000 router recently and it is stable but performs no better than my old RT-AC68U B1 for my purpose. I am considering to return the AX11000 and keep using my AC68U. However, I wonder how much longer the AC68U will be supported by Merlin consider its age. Is it going AC66U's way soon?

I doubt it. The AC68U is still being retailed as "AC66U B1" (the B1 part is an important distinction), and therefore will/should remain in Asus' codebase for a good while. So that speaks in favor of it not being dropped soon.

But it’s still an AC68U, not an AC66U.

AC66U B1 (1900) is an AC68U with higher clock-speed. Very different from the AC66U (1750) "not-B1" (yes, it's a confusing and bewildering naming-scheme which has caused lots of headache for no gain, but then again, I'm starting to think that's Asus motto)
