Wireless Network Issue

New Around Here
Hopefully someone here with much more knowledge than me can help.

I have high-speed internet through Charter and I'm running an Asus RT-N56U dual band wireless router for wireless. I have AppleTV and my DirecTV DVR connected to the router's LAN ports, and then I'm running two iPhones, an iPad, my Dell Inspiron laptop (running Windows XP), and my wife's HP laptop (running Windows Vista) wirelessly. The only problem seems to be occurring with my wife's laptop - it will drop the internet connection constantly. When I click on the network icon in my taskbar tray to diagnose, it shows that it is still connected to the wireless network, but the issue is between the router and the modem. However, all of the other devices continue to work properly.

This problem only started occurring recently when we switched to Charter with the modem and router setup. Previously, we were running AT&T DSL which provided a combined modem/wireless gateway. All devices worked fine when connected to that.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

This seems to be contradictory.

If all the other devices are working fine, then the router and modem are working. Otherwise nothing would be able to connect to the internet.

Check the laptop wireless connection properties (Properties button
on Wireless Connection Status, then Configure button up near Connect Using box at top of window). Check Power Management tab and uncheck box Allow computer to turn off this device to save power
