Wireless router advice

New Around Here
Hello,

I'm new in the community. We are getting very fast internet at my apartment (WebPass 1Gbps), and we will be streaming live tv from the internet + a couple of laptops + smartphones.

I'm confused of how to interpret the rankings. The NightHawk x4s is #1 for its class, but it seems it has significantly lower 5Ghz throughput than the ASUS AC68U. Can someone help me decide which one do you think could be better for our setup, and why? : )

Streaming on wireless? My wife live stream lot of stuffs every night. Our ISP supplied speed is 50 down/5 up. Using -n mode wifi card(Big foot Killer) on HTPC, never have a problem. IMO, Any router in AC1900 class and above will work well for you. One thing I like about R7800, this router running temperature is not that high due to the chip set it uses vs. Broadcom chip based routers run much warmer. ATM, I use RT-AC3100, R7800 is stand-by unit.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I think I framed the question wrong. I'm just curious what is the advantage of the NightHawk x4s over the cheaper AC68U, if the download throughput of the AC68u is better?

The speeds you need first is WAN-LAN so you want a simultaneous 2Gb/s of NAT forwarding capacity. The wireless speeds only affect wireless to wire or vice versa transfers.

Those two products were tested with different test methods. You can only fairly compare products tested with the same test method and of the same class. That's why the Ranker is set up the way it is.

There is no router that has best performance in both bands and in both directions.
