I have Verizon FiOS (I think it is 35/25) and currently use the Verizon-provided Actiontec as my router (not sure the model, but it is 4 or more years old). The router is in the basement and only does routing - I have two wireless APs on the 1st floor.
The Actiontec has been acting up recently where it will stop handing out IP addresses and/or access to the internet. It takes a power cycle to get it to work again. Not sure if it is failing or buckling under load.
When I upgraded my wireless to the Asus RT-66U, it displaced a WNDR3700v1 as an AP. Would this be a worthy replacement for the Actiontec as a pure router? I was considering buying an Asus RT-N56U for this purpose, but was hoping the Linksys would be capable and save some money. Thoughts?
