Would like to use VPN only for DownloadStation, while maintaining ability to acces DS215j remotely

Exactly the topictitle. I’ve searched the web for ages but cannot find out how to do this. Do I make a setting in the NAS or do I create something like this in my RT-AC3200 Asus modem/router (yes it’s used as both, ditched Fritzbox modem)
