ZyWall 2+ Help

fuzzyaces

New Around Here
All,

I've been following this forum for some time, so I figure this is the place to go. I purchased a ZyWall 2+ about 6 weeks ago, and it was running rock solid on a Comcast consumer connection until ~1 week ago. I was doing a power cycle, and since I have not been able to receive an ip address from Comcast since with the ZyWall.

I replaced my ZyWall with a D-Link DIR-825 and was able to receive an ip address from Comcast. I decided to test it out, and set up the ZyWall within my network. It was able to receive an ip address (connecting on the WAN port) from the DIR-825. So I don't believe there is an issue with the ZyWall.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Thanks.

Do you have the latest firmware for the 2+? ftp://ftp.zyxel.com/ZyWALL_2_Plus/firmware/

If firmware is not the issue, I'd say its pretty difficult to diagnose a 2+ issue with the info provided. Without knowing how your Zywall is setup, I would recommend you default the unit. You can do this in the Maintenance section of the GUI or with the reset button on the rear of the unit.

Claykin,

I am running V4.04(XU.9) | 01/05/2010. I realize a update just came out within the last week, the firmware is relatively new.

However, bizzare enough, the router has started working again. I gave the modem an overnight power cycle and on startup, everything worked again. I wish I could explain it, but I've never had anything that has happened like this before. Normally, a 1 or 2 minute power cycle works, but this is the first that has required an extended cycle.

Anyway, thanks all for your help.

If the problem resurfaces check the ethernet cable (replace it with a new one) and also check to make sure the port on the 2+ doesn't have bad solder joints. Wiggle it and see if it connects/disconnects.
