The Zyxel PLA5236 is not only a 1000 Mbps powerline device that gets plugged into a wall socket to use a home’s electrical wiring to network a home – it’s also a 5 GHz only 2x2 AC900 wireless extender that can be used to increase existing Wi-Fi signal with a maximum link rate of 867 Mbps.

The HomePlug AV2 Powerline product includes two GbE network ports for wired networking, while wireless networking can be set using three different modes that maximize either speed, range, or a combination of speed and range.

Setting up and monitoring the PLA5236 is done using Zyxel’s ONE Connect mobile app, available for both iOS and Android devices.

The Zyxel PLA5236 has a two warranty and is available from Zyxel resellers for $84.99.
