I just upgraded from 3.0.0.4.372.30 to 374.40 remotely and looks like I have got away with only needing to re-enable and re-format jffs. OpenVPN on port 443 with passthrough using nginx to secondary SSTP is working perfectly :)

Main reason for upgrading was to have 3G failover, anyone got any tips on how to test this is working remotely? Is it possible to start ppp via the shell and make sure it has a connection and see signal strength.

Well done on another release and enjoy your break.

Weird problem with download master. Sent 2 mp3 torrents from my android tablet to router with Asus download master app. I can see these torrents files in seeds directory, but download master does not download them! These torrents are actually folders with mp3 files inside. Is it made on purpose?

Is this the same reason N-56 router owner installing earlier version of dm because latest is buggy?

Can I use these files provided in the above thread to install to my n-66?

Lol I just upgraded from 3.0.0.4.374.33_0-sdk5 to this, and I thought the thing or my graphics card broke ;)

Is -em already enabled or do I have to select it somewhere?

edit: seems good on first glance, didn't have to clear/reset/reboot router or do anything funky. but the temps seems to have increased by 2-3 degrees. other than that, there seems to have periods where it is very slow and then speeds back up after that

Hi guys, First all of all many thanks to merlin for all is hard work, greatly appreciated.

Here is something that i came across that have become a bit of an obsession in trying to find the cause of it .

A few weeks ago i noticed that The Dnla Icon ( the nice asus router icon)that the router broadcast to other devices had disappeared in my windows pc and replaced with a generic windows icon and in my android devices/smart tvs it was replaced with a box with a question mark.
This bugged that hell of me for some reason, so i set out to find the cause.
after many re flashed of firmware etc i found that if i enable jffs partition on merlin 39 firmware the icon goes missing, to get it back i have to disable jffs then flash the latest asus firmware then merlin 40 ,after that enable jffs and the original icon remains.:D
So i though i got it figured out... yesterday i installed Entware then rebooted and bam! the icon has gonne missing again.

Does anyone noticed this? Or does anyone knows why the asus icon is going missing?
From what i can deduct it seems that after the above changes the asus icon ceases on being broadcast to the network .
Please note that all the re flashes ,resets, all setting of the router are input-ed manually.

Any thought are welcome.:)

Yes, the regular N66U build is now using the EM version of the driver.

RMerlin, how do I get the CPU temp to show on a RT-N66R? The changelog says that was fixed, but I don't see it in the GUI?

Set WAN DDNS with checking External IP Address

Hi,

It's possible set the DDNS making sure that the router checks the external ip, not the ip of the router that provides the connection?
The factory firmware of netgear does, and also the tomato.
It seems strange that this was not expected.
Definitely something I'm wrong.

Thanks

Just a follow-up from my problems with my IPv6 tunnel ceasing to work after a few seconds of activity. I finally got around to reinstalling .40 to test it again (and also to view the April fools :D )
Try disabling HW acceleration.
This appears to have fixed the issue. However, is there any particular reason why it works with HW acceleration enabled in .35_4 but not in .40?

Only Broadcom would know. The hardware acceleration code is closed source, and they are so secretive about how it works that not even Asus has the source code to this module.

Greetings:
My very first post here!!

On RT-Ac66U/ Merlin 374.40, I have the top part of the GUI collapsing down!!!
Is this an error? I have internet access and all seems OK.

Any input is much appreciated.

Can anyone comment on the 2.4GHZ wireless stability of the RT-ac56u with 374.40? I've been asked to recommend a router, and I was going to suggest the ac56u (I have an N16 and a N66u and love them both), but then came across a number of posts complaining of 2.4GHZ intermittent drops with this model.

Does this firmware build fix the issue (Some claim it has something to do with a power-saving function), or is it something I don't need to worry about?

Thanks for any advice! Worst case scenario, I recommend the N66u, which has been rock solid on an older Merlin firmware, but it seems wrong when a newer model is out for around the same price... :)

haha that's pretty good. Did you put that in the bios merlin or did asus do that?

It's something I inserted in the webui. It's entirely done through CSS, which is quite impressive (I didn't expect CSS to support timed features such as the one causing the banner to gradually drop).

I'll post the actual CSS on the forums before removing it from Git (the code can already be seen there - I didn't obfuscate anything).
