RT-AC87U & OpenVPN: Using insecure hash algorithm in CA Sig

Marty, Thanks for posting, I just began to configure an OpenVPN server on my Asus RT-AC56U (also old). Like you, I found that only by setting the "Insecure" mode could I connect from my Android OpenVPN client. What perplexes me is WHY my certs are being seen as insecure. I chose the HIGHEST...

Asus RT-AC56U Android Client gives: Error message: X509:parse_perm:error in cert::error:0480006C:PEM routines::no start

I'm new to setting up a VPN server. My router natively supports OpenVPN in either server or client mode. I configured it as a server for use w Android clients. The OpenVPN Android client imports the server-generated .ovpn file w/o complaint, but trying to connect gives: "Error message...

RT-AC56U Repeater kills RT-AC56U Parent Routing

I recall that both of those were default settings when using the configuration wizard. And I recall noting that DHCP was disabled on the repeater, and I also manually changed to a different subnet out of caution. BUT, there's a weird intersection between the two routers. EXAMPLE: if, while on a...

RT-AC56U Repeater kills RT-AC56U Parent Routing

I have two RT-AC-56U routers, both running the same version (380.61) of Asuswrt-Merlin. I set up one as a repeater using several different configurations, starting with the suggested defaults, and then using different SSIDs for the repeater to see if that helped. I reset the repeater to defaults...

ext USB 3.0 HD Access Problem

Well, when we know the answer to that, we might know why the Windows credentials aren't accepted. It sort of makes sense that the admin/pw for the router interface would be give access to the shared drive. What doesn't make sense is why the Windows id/pw are accepted. Are they not being properly...

ext USB 3.0 HD Access Problem

You are the only person who has referenced SSID in this thread. I was referring to the router's BROWSER interface login credentials (i.e., admin/YourPassWord), NOT to anything related to WiFi authentication. Sorry if unclear.

ext USB 3.0 HD Access Problem

Well...I'm frustrated. Yes, if I enable "Enable Guest Login" on my router, I can login from any Windows machine w/o ID/PW, which is NOT what I want. But, with that option DISABLED, I can't login with my Windows ID/PW, even though I've created that same credentials pair on the router for this USB...

ext USB 3.0 HD Access Problem

Different PC, same problem. The registry hack seems to be to enable unauthenticated guest user access, which is not what I want. But this current thrash reminds me of trying to get Macs and PCs talking on a Windows network. That wasn't fun. EDIT: I did just enable "Guest Login" on my router...

ext USB 3.0 HD Access Problem

The credentials bit was in the link referenced by sxf2000. I'd not heard of it either. But, turns out, that didn't fix the problem. I'm seeing the main root folder, but trying to open it gives: So, I'll have to revisit the link sfx200 again, though why a registry edit should be required is...

ext USB 3.0 HD Access Problem

Thanks. The relevant tip from that link appears to be the single, last line: "update: Make 2 credential files one for IP address and one for Hostname." Once I created a separate windows credential with my router's IP address and my Windows ID/PW, I was able to login w/o a ID/PW prompt (unless my...

ext USB 3.0 HD Access Problem

Enable Share is ON Allow guest login is OFF Workgroup matches my home network's workgroup name I created (on the router's Samba share page) an account UserID/PW matching my Windows account w R/W permissions. I can see my...

    ExpressVPN and Stock Asus OpenVPN

I've got the RT-AC56U, so hopefully that has sufficient horsepower. I'll find out when I find time to play with this a bit.

    ExpressVPN and Stock Asus OpenVPN

THANKS. Will report back when I finally get to this. I'm juggling too many things at the moment to start another project, no matter how small.

    Help with StrongVPN configuration

Thanks. OK. So, I'm interested, but my ignorance about this is significant. So...care to walk me through this? The script Merlin provides appears to fit my intended us, and can be used as-is. I'm just not sure what to do with it or where to put it or how. Two minutes sounds quick, and I'm sure...
