ASUS quality sucks! Don't buy it!

Hello all! After less then 3 years my $300+ RT-AC87U router is dead !!!! ASUS wants me to pay $140 (estimated cost) + s/h for looking at it. Sounds like cost prohibitive offer. So wanted to share with all. Also, my issue is that the router stopped routing and WiFi'ing and it can be reset...

    Local network names resolution

That's my expectation as well. However when I see Client Name and IP, I can't ping devices by names. Any clues how to troubleshoot or fix it? @RMerlin "make sure your use the router as your LAN's DNS" do you mean via "LAN - DHCP Server" => DNS Server 1 or 2 ? Can you elaborate a little?

    Local network names resolution

Is there an option in ASUS RT-AC87R running Merlin 380.62 to enable DNS server? My goal is to have all commuters's names connected to the router be resolved. Thx

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.53 is now available

I am considering downgrading to 378.50, my hope was that newer firmware is better, but alas. @RMerlin is WiFi issues in 378.53 confirmed problem?

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.53 is now available

I used the same router and did not see QOS relations, but WiFi performance is definitely degraded in 378.53, 24. has shorter range and strenth

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.53 is now available

@RMerlin This update seemed to have changes Wi-Fi behavior. On one hand 5GHz seems to be having better coverage range, which is good. On another, both Wi-Fi sometimes become stale and clients are having problems to connect until channel assignment was not changed. Just wanted to report and...
