Hi, I got to fix a Lacie 12big Rack Storage Server at work and it's driving me crazy.

Some time ago the alarm started to bother me, it was a continuous, loud sound. The problem initially was that one of the three HDDs of the RAID wasn't being recognized by the system. After looking all over the configuration software and rebooting that was fixed for a moment. However the alarm was still sounding.

I don't remember why, but I've rebooted again and the system crashed, it wouldn't boot. So I installed Windows Server again, and after booting I had the initial problem.
The last thing I could find out was that the continuous alarm is related to HDD failure and not power or fans as the manual said, the manual has not been really helpful actually.

I want to know if there's a chance of shutting down the alarm or solve the HDD thing. The first option would be enough for me at least, but I couldn't find anything about the motherboard in the Internet (serial number didn't help) and warranty is over.

Thanks for your help, I don't know what else I can do.

I don’t anything about your brand of server but if the alarm is related to hard drive problems before I tried to use these hard drives again I would pull them out and run the manufacture diagnostic programs to test each hard drive. Maybe there is a problem with one. I usually do this any way before I put a hard drive into a RAID system.

likely, your only hope is to find a website forum with other LaCie users. May be that there are none.

Did you replace the faulty HDD? Did the system rebuild the array?

Did you clean out the dust bunnies from the fans and the grilles?

Did you test with a new, known good power adaptor or supply?

Were any other errors showing?
