Wireless Client Bridge set up? (without DD-WRT)

I don't own a PS3. It "Should" work. But I've read many people complain that PS3 (PS4 too?) often fails to do DHCP properly through a bridge. PS3 uniquely does something different than other devices.

Or maybe you can config your PS3 (PS4) to use static LAN IP addresses (reserved) and it won' to use DHCP.

Why is it that these consoles are so brain-dead with networking? It's not just the PS3/PS4, but also the Xboxen - the networking stacks there present issues that no other devices have - some of this is games, I get it, with hard coded ports, but generally, the network implementations on these devices are sadly very broken...

5GH bridge

Also, web searches may turn up others' solution to this long-standing issue with the PS3.

I tried those as well, and none of the solutions offered worked for me :(

At any rate, I found this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004UBU8IE?colid=3HV1PA4SPHXF&coliid=I10JHY5EYL7Z4E&psc=1&ref_=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl on Amazon and it looks like it can do what I'm looking to do. Is this a good option? My Archer C8 has been great so I trust the brand. And unlike my WRT54G, this is N compatible. Thoughts?

That product is one of many such repeater/extenders. All such things halve the throughput if that matters.

I own one of these and it works fine as a bridge. It says it has an "Extender" mode too. I've not used that.

But mine's old (and cheap).
I saw this one as well and considered it an option. When you say repeaters halve the throughput, does that mean that my devices connected to the bridge via Ethernet will have their upload and download speeds reduced more than if there were connected directly through my primary router? If so, that doesn't really matter to me as long as it's a stronger and more stable connection than wireless.

Halve the throughput - a repeater (extender) must receive then retransmit. That's why the speed halves.
This does not happen with direct connection to the WiFi router. Nor does it happen with a bridge.

A repeater/extender is WiFi in, WiFi out in both directions. It's all wireless. It's simple to install. The tradeoff is loss of speed if that matters. And it must be located such that it gets a reasonably strong signal from the router. Don't put it in the weak signal area.

Got it! Thanks, I think I'll get the ASUS and use it as a bridge (wifi to ethernet).
