    80 MHz channel width Question (3 AP's)

I have 3 AP's (Unifi NanoHD) in my house. Currently each are set to 40 MHz channels (Channels 36, 149, 161) Would I run into issues if I set the APs to 80 MHz? There would be some overlap in 5G channels (Don't plan on using DFS). Or would I be better sticking to 40 MHz in my household? Thanks

    Question on 5ghz channels

All things being equal (no interference on any of the channels), if I have 2 Access Points (Unifi) I know that both should be on a different 5ghz channel. My question is, should 1 be on the Channels 36, 40, 44, and 48 range and 1 be on the 149, 153, 157, 161, and 165 range? Or does it not...

IOT devices / How do the SNB members set them up at home?

Currently have a Ubquiti network at home (2 APS, Switch, and Edgerouter). I have 2 SSID's setup, 1 main one (5/2.4ghz) and one that I made for IOT devices. I am just wondering if this is overkill in a home environment or not. I am trying to get a firewall ruleset together for the IOT network...

    5ghz channel widths

In general should a “home user” use 40,80, or 160? I’ve heard 40 because anything higher decreases wireless stability. Also heard choose the highest you can for max speed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ubiquiti Users -- questions for you

I have an Edgerouter X (running 1.10.5), 2 APS, and a Unifi Switch 24. My questions are these. 1) How do I go about assigning my DHCP range of all devices on my network to 192.168.99.100 - 192.168.99.254 ? Is this done on the router or my switch? 2) How do I go about changing my...

    Ubquiti switch static ip

How do I get rid of this static up from my switch? I’ve rebooted switch, edgerouter x, verified that the switch / confit / network is set to DHCP. Still shows static (and adoption failed because of it) Help https://i.imgur.com/KRC1H0P.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Ubiquiti Users

would like to hear from users who use these AP in their houses. Currently running cat6 wiring to most of the rooms in my house and searching for a wireless AP. My R7800 is too big and bulky for my wife’s tastes so I am exploring Ubiquiti AP to mount on the ceiling. With 2800sq ft would 1 AP be...

Suggestions for running Cat5e/Cat6 to rooms in a new house

I am currently having a house built, and want to get a plan for my networking. I am going to talk to my builder in the coming weeks, and have him run either Cat5e or Cat6 to rooms in my house. This is a new process to me so I am looking to my network community here for tips/advice. I am...

    Foscam / Port Triggering

Was told that I should first, disable UPnP option on my foscam, and secondly, have a random port for the camera, but have that as an internal port. Then have a range of ports that go out to the internet (for security reasons). Is this an instance where I would use port triggering? In the past...

    2.4GHz, mode question (54,347,800Mbps)

Is there any reason NOT to use 800 Mbps mode on a netgear R7800 router? The options are 54, 347, or 800 Mbps.

    Which RT-AC3100 FW's work with Comcast IPv6?

Latest merlin, 63.2, and the official Asus FW 3.0.0.4.380_3941 don't seem to work when enabling IPv6 on the router. If I take the router out of the equation, and plug computer into cable modem, test-ipv6.com passes 10/10. Thanks

    Testing Wifi Signal/Channel

When testing for the best Wifi signal Channel (I use iMac and a MacBook, and run the wireless diagnostics to show me the recommended channel), should I be in the farthest part of my home, on my laptop, and see what channel it recommends? Or should I be in the living room (about 12-15 ft from...

    R8000 / hardware acceleration

Ive read that stock fw does not support hardware acceleration. However, if I were to put Kong or Tomato Tomato Shibby on, it supports hardware acceleration and simple bandwidth limiting. Ive also read that one will never reach Gbps speeds with DD-WRT as it doesn't have HW accel. Tomato offers...

Nighthawk X6 vs Apple AirPort Extreme

Just had Xfinity come out and install their gigibit service. Tech told me I can't get Gigabit speeds with my new Apple AirPort Extreme router. Installed a netgear one, R8000 instead. Any truth to this? Would like to keep using my Apple router Maybe @sfx2000 could chime in Sent from my iPhone...

    Airport Extreme, one SSID question

I have my 2.4 and 5.0ghz on one SSID, and the channels as Automatic. When I have this setup, my iMac, which is 14-18 feet from the router, connect to the 2.4ghz with signal (dBm) showing -36 The 5.0ghz is on channel 48/42, and signal -47. Now if I set the channel to manual for 5.0ghz, and put...

Is Mbps the same as Mb/s?

speedtest.net gives me 80Mbps / 12Mbps for download/upload. On the ASUS QOS, they have Mb/s So I'm assuming I need to move decimals and not use the 80/12 number from speedtest?

    Wifi Calling - Asus router

Should anything be configured differently from default to optimize wifi calling? I have T Mobile, and wondering if I should be enabling QOS, or opening a port, to optimize the quality and connection for wifi calling on my iPhone. Or will default settings be good enough?

Manually Assigned IP around the DHCP list?

I have 8 devices at home that have a static IP. What is the pro's/cons' for putting these devices in the manually assigned IP around the DHCP list? Whether I have them in there or not, they are still static ips, so not really seeing the reason to add anything to this list.
