    ASUS RT-N66U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.7410

I tend to think that the primary reason that is says "Japan only" is because it's beta software and as a whole, Japan is a very tech savvy country....percentage wise of their population. And I doubt that ASUS really wants to be flooded with phone calls and emails from around the world with Beta...

    ASUS RT-N66U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.7410

tvyankee, yes, it includes all of the old fixes too. It's especially important for beginners to reset their router to factory defaults AFTER they perform a firmware upgrade and then reconfigure the router from scratch....especially when they previously had an old firmware version on their...

Is your Router/Mobile Device mature enough to switch between 2.4 & 5 GHz ?

The default setting on consumer wireless routers should be unique SSIDs. If someone wants to modify their wireless settings so they have common SSIDs, then they should do so. But many, many consumers have resolved their wifi issues by using unique SSIDs.

Best router out there Today? 0-350 dollars

If I lived in Europe with a fiber connection, I'd go with TP-Link. There's some $50 TP-Links that could do 900 Mbps as far back as 2012. Not sure what chip they have inside or what NAT acceleration. But it's not a Broadcom chip and not Broadcom NAT acceleration.

USB Drive on Asus RT N66U Router seen/mapped on Windows 7 but not Windows 8.1

Fblain, I have Windows 8.1 home, and I can map a network drive on RT-N66U. I haven't made any changes to Windows 8.1. Do you have any data on the drive? If not, put a couple files on there and see if you can map it then. Maybe there's a bug and I just got lucky. I don't know.

Cannot access AiDisk and AiCloud from the internet

After the factory reset to defaults, you have to reconfigure the whole router from scratch if you're troubleshooting. Otherwise you might re-load the same problem settings. I did set up Aicloud and FTP and was successful over my 4G ipad connection and locally. I was using FTP Client Pro app...

Cannot access AiDisk and AiCloud from the internet

fafot, I've had similar issues like that in the past on various routers including N66U. It's probably something messed up with your permissions. The easiest potential fix is to copy your files (not the share-permissions) to another disk. And quick reformat the problem disk.....and then copy...

Asus RT-N66U Dead? Not switching on!

I've noticed several reports of power switch issues in the past. I pretty much blew off those reports as isolated incidences. For the last couple months, my power switch does not feel the same when I press it. I really haven't used the power switch exclusively....as I've disconnected the...

ASUS RT-N66U 3G failover - trying to get it to work - Huawei E3131

I played around with the Dual WAN feature on ASUS stock firmware. I messed with all the settings just to experiment and I had a little trouble getting it to work. I reset the N66U to factory defaults and quit tinkering around with it and it worked fine immediately and was reliable with my...

Complex environment. Need stable and powerful setup. Advice?

"Seamless" Roaming can be pretty tricky if you have the bar set at zero drops. ;) I've never been able to achieve zero drops or freezes with multiple consumer AP's and mobile devices. Mobile devices are getting much better at roaming than they were 5-7 years ago. I do have two APs but they...

Constant DNS drops with Comcast (RT-N66U)

I guess you could try updating the firmware to latest ASUS, or latest Merlin or latest fork. After the firmware update, reset the asus router to defaults and reconfigure it from scratch. What modem do you have? Or do you have a gateway? Change the ASUS local LAN IP address to 192.168.22.1

Constant DNS drops with Comcast (RT-N66U)

It would make sense that your signal levels are fine most of the time. I guess I was talking about "logs" and not signal level. Your log will give you information such as sync problems...etc... Example: 2015-05-24 16:12:15 3-Critical R007.0 Unicast Ranging Received Abort Response - Re-...

Constant DNS drops with Comcast (RT-N66U)

They can look at your modem logs and determine pretty quickly if the issue is on their end. Comcast has a forum that you can ask about your modem logs. It could be anything. Or you can post your modem log here if you want.

Constant DNS drops with Comcast (RT-N66U)

In layman's terms, the log says you need to call comcast to fix your internet.

Windows 10 Technical preview and WOL

You tried everything? Like what? You haven't listed a single thing you've tried. Did you try updating the NIC driver? Did you go to control panel and disable windows fast startup? Double check your BIOS/UEFI settings? What else have you tried?
