    RT-N66U 2.4Ghz drops, but clients can't reconnect

Sorry to hear you are having the same issue, I know how frustrating it is. My router had a three year warranty and so managed to get it swapped after I tried everything that Asus support suggested, though were no suggestions given that haven't already been given by helpful people on this thread...

    RT-N66U 2.4Ghz drops, but clients can't reconnect

Thanks for the input bbunge. Well, unfortunately still getting the problem. I have been in touch with Asus support so hopefully will get some joy there. I've tried updating to the latest Beta firmware as suggested by Asus but still the same problem exists. Scouring the internet can't find a...

    RT-N66U 2.4Ghz drops, but clients can't reconnect

Thanks wouterv. Will leave the Xbox setting off and uncheck the b/g protection as don't have any b devices. I'm fairly isolated where I live - scanning brings up no other available wireless networks but will keep to 20MHZ as you suggest for the bandwidth in case there is some interference.

    RT-N66U 2.4Ghz drops, but clients can't reconnect

Thanks for the reply wouterv. All my N clients are on the 5Ghz network with no mix, g clients on the 2.4Ghz and don't have any b clients. Only change to that was on my last test where I added a couple of the N clients to the 2.4 band just to check it wasn't a problem the client end but they too...

    RT-N66U 2.4Ghz drops, but clients can't reconnect

Unfortunately no joy. Same issue last night, 2.4Ghz clients dropped and cannot reconnect. This is very strange, I can understand drops but not the refusal of clients to rejoin the network. I did the factory reset, but I'm not sure if that also clears the NVRAM or not? When I reset the router I...

    RT-N66U 2.4Ghz drops, but clients can't reconnect

Thanks very much for the replies, much appreciated. I have factory reset the router as suggested and manual configured the router again. I've also deleted any old connection profiles saved on computers as well as changing the SSIDs on the router. Fingers crossed! Thanks again

    RT-N66U 2.4Ghz drops, but clients can't reconnect

Hi there, I'm having a very strange issue with my RT-N66U router. I have two separate SSIDs for the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands and am running the latest firmware 3.0.0.4.376.3861. All devices suddenly drop (approx once per day) off the 2.4 band, but the strange thing is they refuse to reconnect. My...

RT-N66U seems to have lost its range

:Hi all, just an update on the initial problem. As the router was new and suddenly lost its wifi range both dramatically and without any firmware changes I sent the router back and got a replacement, and am very happy to say the replacement is working fantastically well. Worked fine with the...

RT-N66U seems to have lost its range

Thanks for suggestion - just been to the ASUS website and noticed more recent firmware. When going through the router GUI, clicking check firmware update indicated that I did have the latest firmware but checking as you suggested on the website there was new (actually more than one!) versions...

RT-N66U seems to have lost its range

First of all thanks for all the replies - it is much appreciated. Apologies for missing out firmware info - bit of a schoolboy error there! Worth noting though that there was no firmware change between the initial tests where signal strength was superb and then setting it up after fibre...

RT-N66U seems to have lost its range

Hi there, I'm new to the forum and looks like a great place. Hopefully might be able to get some input into an issue I'm having - will try to keep it concise! Recently upgraded to fibre optic broadband and got the Asus to replace my previous router as it has to be situated further away...
