    Got a reply from Asus technical support. In my original ticket I described everything I had tried. They then replied, that there was nothing else I could try, and my router was defective!     Same problem with N66U. It has been reported before. Its probably cause by something in the Asus end. I reported it to their technical support yesterday. I hope it gets fixed soon. In the meantime, I will try the work-around above.

    I have an RT-N66U setup as VPN server. The router has a gateway IP address of 192.169.1.1. The VPN is working as expected. I can connect without problems both with PC and Android phone. I can access my routers web interface on 192.168.1.1 and any on my LAN devices on 192.168.1.x etc...
