    If you want/need out in the GUI, then yes you are correct (asaik as well). But the beauty of Linux, when there's a will there's always a way if you're comfortable with the shell http://entware.wl500g.info/binaries/entware/Packages.html

    Have your considered Merlin's custom build of AsusWRT? I've been using it on my AC66U for a couple years and never once had an issue, including having a separate subnet. http://asuswrt.lostrealm.ca/
