ASUS RT-AC87U 2.4 GHz network - no pptp under windows 7

I can not connect to a Fortigate VPN from my Windows 7 machine when it is connected to the 2.4 GHz network on my ASUS RT-AC87U device. If it is connected to the 5 GHz network, the vpn connects fine. My mac connects fine to the same VPN on either network. I'm not sure what can account for this...
