    EnGenius ESR9850

I once had the interface lock up certain functions during an firmware upgrade. Try a reload of the current firmware you use, you've nothing to lose.

    EnGenius ESR9850

To get the maximum throughput possible, I use all Engenius for N. I've had their 9801 and it works well with the 7750, getting 1/3 more mbps than SNB reviews. Its not pre-N as listed here, its Draft 2.0...

    EnGenius ESR9850

If you don't need gigabit and need 5 GHz, the ESR 7750 isn't too shabby. Tippy you rock, keep going!

    EnGenius ESR9850

Good to hear the 9850 radios are stable, I've never had a problem with mine in the 7750, it has the same chipset, so again methinks its radio interference. I continue to follow your exploits, tipstir!

Router Board 450G vs EnGenius ESR9850

I can see and I appreciate your work. My feeling is you getting a lot of interference from so many AP working close together. Its certainly an acid test of interoperability. A good point is it appears Engenius is listening to these reviews, a firmware update for the 7750 was curiously close...

Router Board 450G vs EnGenius ESR9850

Tipsitr, your continued adventures in networking since the 9850 came out just amazes me! I follow your progress every day. :D

    EnGenius ESR9850

I've had no trouble with my 7750 since 3/10 but in setting it up it did seem more sensitive to position in getting best results; suggesting power output from the radio. Will try this and see if it makes better best.

    EnGenius ESR9850

This inconsistent performance in a heavy interoperability test is concerning. Would you modify your final review tipstir and rate it badly?

    EnGenius ESR9850

I've been away, just following up on developments, and see tipstir has been really putting the 9850 through the torture tests. Great job, I wish I had gotten this now instead of my 7750 ;) I see Tim has the 7750 review developing, its holding its own, but less a huge standout among competitors...

    EnGenius ESR9850

Its one reason his review is also important to add to Tim of SNB, if there is a stress test for interoperability, tipstir's setup is a good lab for it.

Thanks for those heads up, Tipstir. What happened with that drop? It looks only like a momentary reduction in signal strength, but as the graph continues, was connection still on?

    EnGenius ESR9850

    You've certainly got to torture test all its features, and determine it can work together. I mean you have these? Routers/AP EnGenius ESR-9850 v1.00/1.10 & v1.00/1.10 (2x) Belkin N+ F5D8235-4 v1000/1.01.24 (2x) Dlink DIR-655 A3/1.32NAB03 Gig Trendnet TEW-652BRP w/DIR-615 C1/3.11NA Buffalo...

Thanks Tipstir. I'm reading your posts, but am tied up with a project so can't comment in detail. Glad you are getting things figured out.

    EnGenius ESR9850

Hi Tipstir. Just finished your videos. Now everyone will know what the unit looks like and what it takes to install it. Great job! You may want to add a short clip of the speed transfering data and the quality of your reception.

    EnGenius ESR9850

Awesome. Keep them coming tipstir, I would never have expected your results.

    EnGenius ESR9850

Glad to hear to know how to work the system, tipstir :D Sorry you're having issues getting your units. Data sheet and more. I haven't opened the unit to confirm these, I'm waiting for SNB to do it :p Ralink RT2880 266MHz (BB) +RT2850 (5G RF) Ralink RT3052 384MHz SoC (BB+RF) On the 7750 see...

    EnGenius ESR9850

Thanks for being picky, it keeps SNB information quality very high. Even the archives are textbook quality. I do the same, and when available, I correct my errors as I just did. EnGenius seems quite happy with SNB's testing of its 9850.

    EnGenius ESR9850

Thanks Tim, again for the correction and oversight. What I meant to convey was the spread patterns were different and coverage could be better with the adjustable antenna. From the SNB archives...

    EnGenius ESR9850

The 7750 has 2 radio bands, 2 and 5 GHz. If you don't have a 5 GHz client you won't be able to use that band. Alas, it isn't one radio for N and other for G. I would give the 9850 more consideration since the router is downstairs and many clients are upstairs. External and internal antennas...

I'm not sure where you are in the world but Amazon, tigerdirect, buy etc., report good stocks all run about $50-60 US.
