    Linksys WRT-1900ACS 1.0.0.172978

New firmware stable for me, no reboots or glitches since install. Wifi encryption pulldown menu bugs are all fixed, but network map is broken, displaying all devices as wired and showing zero 2.4 or 5 GHZ devices connected.

Hope it's not true this early in the product cycle. 'Cause then I'd be really unhappy about the rebadged 1900ac v2 thing :(

Thanks for clarifying and confirming that under ordinary circumstances Mixed Mode and B/G/N are identical. I do not see AC mode in my WPA2 Personal 2.4 pulldown, so I should be okay. I switched from the default WPA2/WPA Mixed Personal to just WPA2 Personal as suggested and everything's been...

I did a factory reset but auto install of newest firmware. When I encountered the same issue I reverted back to the initial version and have had no problems since (I've obviously turned off auto update). What does Mixed Mode mean and how does it differ from B/G/N ?

Other forums are also reporting problems with disconnects after upgrading the firmware. Linksys is telling them to revert to the original firmware and then the units are stable. This mirrors my experience - since reverting to the original firmware I've gone 2 months with no issues. I see the...

Thanks all for your advice. I've switched from WPA2/WPA Mixed Personal to WAP Personal (now 'N' appears in the pulldowns). I then tried copying a file from my desktop to my wireless N laptop in close proximity to the router (I had not tried this before). I was much surprised to find that I'm...

Thanks so much, no, I never thought to check the "WPA2 Personal" pulldown; I do indeed see all the modes listed (including 'N') once I select it. Any idea why "WPA2/WPA Mixed Personal" is the default? All things being equal am I better off leaving it at the default or does this cause me to...

Linksys doesn't seem to be in a hurry to update this firmware, even though it is a step backwards from the initial release in terms of 2.4 connectivity and has major omissions from both the 2.4 and 5GHz pulldowns. The 1900ac firmware also hasn't been refreshed since last June.

Thanks JohnnySL. And so far all of my 2.4 devices are connecting fine with the ACS 1.0.0.168229 initial release firmware, so I'm staying put. The new firmware, which updated the wireless driver to v7.2.9.2 obviously still has some bugs. I will take it on faith that the "missing N" in the...

Chadster766 loaded the newest ACS firmware to his V2 and got 'N' in both his 2.4 and 5GHz pulldowns. Why not me? That kinda proves that the units are different, no?

Thanks chadster766. At least we now know that the V2 and the ACS are not truly identical; the ACS does not support the 802.11n standard:eek:. Here are screenshots of my ACS with the initial firmware 1.0.0.168229.

Okay, I used a different (cache-cleared) browser, did a factory reset to default settings and finally restored the previous firmware (1.0.0.168229, initial release). The 2.4 GHz pulldown choices remain as indicated in my screenshot; b,g,b/g and mixed. I guess either Linksys implements 'N'...

Appreciate it; doesn't really make sense that "N" is not listed, does it? I will also try an Asus "B/G/N" laptop tonight with a Qualcomm Atheros wireless adapter.
