Can’t access ac56u after firmware upgrade

After I flashed it, it rebooted. At that point I had done nothing but I was unable to access it via my wired LAN. I am not sure what you mean by resetting to defaults. I didn’t import any settings. The old settings were just there.

Can’t access ac56u after firmware upgrade

I upgraded to the latest firmware 384.6 on my rt -ac56u. Works fine, except that I can no longer access it from my LAN. It has a static local address 192.168.2.32 . I used to https to it just fine. Now I can’t connect to the admin page unless I wirelessly connect to it and go via 10.0.1.1 . Is...

Local LAN access OpenVPN on Asus ( Merlin)

How would I do that? The Asus WAN port is connected to the Rogers modem LAN port. The Rogers modem doesn't allow static routing as far as I can tell. Mind you the Rogers modem does not have dhcp enabled. That is provided by a Synology NAS. The picture is sort of: [ip's 10.0.1.xxx]—LAN...

Local LAN access OpenVPN on Asus ( Merlin)

No, I want to have access to my home LAN resources from a media player that is connected to a vpn router on the home LAN! I am not that interested in access to home from outside home. I think your original understanding is correct.

Local LAN access OpenVPN on Asus ( Merlin)

Thanks. Right now I am using the OpenVPN client on the Asus (Merlin). Are you saying to run the VPN server on the Asus and the client on the media player? The configuration is media player -Ethernet-> Asus LAN port- OpenVPN on Asus - Asus WAN-> Rogers modem LAN -> internet So anything...

Local LAN access OpenVPN on Asus ( Merlin)

Is it possible for media players that access an Asus router running the OpenVPN client (Merlin firmware) to access local resources such as file servers and such? The Asus is an rt-56U with Merlin 380.57 firmware. It's wan is connected to an Ethernet port on the isp cable modem. I can port...

Asus Router VPN, access to LAN?

I have an Asus rt-56u using Merlin's firmware. The WAN port of the 56u is connected via Ethernet to my Rogers cable modem which then goes out to the internet. Both the 56u and Rogers modem are on the same subnet 255.255.255.0 . The devices behind the 56u have ip's 10.0.1.xxx. The local LAN has...

DNS redirect On AC56U in AP mode

I would like to use my Asus RT-AC56U to redirect DNS queries from specific devices, with fixed ip's, to DNS ip's of my choice. All devices on my LAN have ip's 192.168.2.xxx . The Internet is reached via a cable modem router. My Asus RT-AC56U is in Access Point mode. I don't want it using NAT to...

Have any RT-AC56U owners updated to firmware v.378.9135?

I did upgrade on one of my ac56u routers. It has started to occasionally reboot for reasons related to ddns. Have never had this happen using Merlin on my other 56u. Sent from my SD4930UR using Tapatalk

    AC68U as plex server

No. You can get a low end NAS to use as a Plex Server provided your clients do not require video transcoding ( remuxing is generally ok).

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

Can one upgrade to this from the current Asus firmware without losing any settings? That is, can I just apply the firmware upgrade without resetting everything? I'd like to have multiple OpenVPN profiles which is not possible with the current Asus firmware.

    ASUS RT-N56U Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.376.1665

It does work very well but I have two minor complaints 1- ntp has an entry in the log every hour 2- The VPN client seems to assign a random status to connected and disconnected states. It currently has an x next to my connection even though I am connected. Sometimes it puts the checkmark if I...

Asus RT-AC66U NTP failure; wrong time

I have the AC56U running the recent Asus 3754 firmware and I keep getting that same entry in the System log. I used to get a different ntp error before the recent firmware upgrade. It's very unsettling as I've always thought it affected VPN client connections. Is there a way of fixing the...

    RT-AC56U ntp error messages

I wonder if it has any ill effects? Does Merlin's software have a similar VPN client? I quite like the Asus GUI and their VPN client works fine for me. Just that it ff ntp related message.

    RT-AC56U ntp error messages

When checking the logs from this router I keep getting a recurring "error" message ( every hour). It is rc_service: ntp 561:notify_rc stop_ntpc Does anyone know what to do about this? My router is using the Asus VPN client and is on the very latest firmware (*_3602 ) I am using...

    RT-AC56U VPN client- best firmware?

I have been having trouble with the built in OpenVPN and PPTP clients. I am running the latest Asus WRT firmware ending in 374_5656. Would Merlin or DD-WRT have updated VPN clients? I really like the Asus interface but I don't like having to reboot the router every couple of days. Don't care...

    Asus RT-N66U and VPN

I finally got the RT-AC56U. Very nice but the built in OpenVPN client does not seem as compatible as the dd-wrt one that I had with the Linksys. Are you using Merlin's firmware? Philip

5ghz bridged and 2.4ghz AP in 1 router

Does this mean you could set up a VPN client on one band and your regular internet on the other and Ethernet ports? I have an Asus RT-AC56U and when it acts as a router both bands and Ethernet go to my VPN provider via my home network. Same to dedicate all of that to VPN.

    Asus RT-N66U and VPN

Can this router act as a VPN client and route other systems via wi/Fi or hardwire to your VPN provider? In particular does it support L2TP, PPTP, OpenVPN from the router ( I am not talking about passing a VPN session from a computer running VPN software. For example, could this router connect to...

    DSL, IPTV, LAN, Router/bridge ?

Thanks. I had read through that article. Really nice description. That is exactly my situation in fact. The only thing in that article that has me baffled is the "Internet router w switch". The switch side is set to 192.168.1.1 and the WAN side gets its ip from the DSL modem. I guess I am having...
