    WAN speed monitoring

I see. The only thing, which i can think of that would meet your requirements fully would be something like the samknows whitebox, which sits in front of your router and monitors when there isn't activity from it, and only then conducts various tests. I'm not sure you would ever get a perfect...

    WAN speed monitoring

It makes perfect sense. But in my mind the complexity of what you want is so major, compared to what you get from it. Why not just schedule traffic and cut all traffic on the LAN side of your router in 5 minutes or so everyday at 3 or 4 am, and let the speedtest run at this point?

    WAN speed monitoring

I have made a script for this using a simple program called speedtest-cli which is python based. you can simply install it by using this line: pip install speedtest-cli when installed you can create a script called speedtest.sh and insert this: #!/bin/sh echo " " >>...

Was my router's username and password hacked?

Can't we remove the "ssh from wan" option from the web interface in some way? In my oppinion @Xentrk, the only reason why we, which are using custom FW are being attacked, is because we actually check our syslogs once in a while, compared to the normal end-user who might just setup the router...

using hosts file w/ dnscrypt on entware

The easiest way is to install ab-solution first and then entware and dnscrypt, but you'll get it once you start working with it. If it turns out to be too difficult for you, text me.

using hosts file w/ dnscrypt on entware

I believe that ab-solution would solve the problems you have. It has the ability to use custom host files or just blacklisting sites manually one by one. I have been using it for a while with DNSCrypt without any issues at all!

Run wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/decoderman/AB-Solution/master/ab-solution.sh --no-check-certificate Then run sh ab-solution.sh The script is not found in /tmp/mnt/Ab-solution It is most likely located in /tmp/mnt/sda1/ You should also check that you have jffs partition enabled

    AB-Solution 1.07 is out!

Yeah i know that technically it is possible ;) One could also just use DNSCrypt on the router and point all the DNS traffic through that and benefit from the added encryption on the DNS resolver while using your VPN... which i would believe to be even more "safe" ;)

    AB-Solution 1.07 is out!

That's because it can't block ads when you use the dns of your vpn provider... Simple as that

    AB-Solution 1.07 is out!

To delete the old file use "cd /mnt/" Then "ls" That will show you a list of the USB devices mounted on the router. Find the one on which you have all files Then use "cd YOURUSB" where YOURUSB is replaced with the name you found (probably something like sda1 or sda5). Then use "ls" again...

    AB-Solution 1.07 is out!

@thelonelycoder would it really be that much extra work to maintain a fork of the original with your addons to? Everytime there was a major stable version you would just merge the changes into your branch and that would be it?

    AB-Solution 1.07 is out!

I would suppose never, as that would require merging it into the build of rmerlin or maintaining a fork of the build. Simple answer, it's just too much work

    Default gateway setup

I was wondering about setting up a qnap nas as openvpn client for my devices on my LAN and it got me thinking about the part where one has to direct the devices to the nas by using it as default gateway and remembered the option in LAN -> DHCP-server -> Basic config where it lets one define a...
