How a adjust remote administration on Nighthawk R8000P, firmware version: V1.4.4.94_1.3.56

Thanks, that's very helpful! Yes, I have the mobile app but it's of very little use. I've run different firmware builds on older routers in the past (Tomato, DDWRT, etc.). Is there one that might be useful on this router? It's for home use but I do like to keep an eye on security.

How a adjust remote administration on Nighthawk R8000P, firmware version: V1.4.4.94_1.3.56

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately, on my router, this option simply doesn't exist, at least at that location. There is a section under Advanced, Security, Access Control that looks similar, but I'm not convinced.

How a adjust remote administration on Nighthawk R8000P, firmware version: V1.4.4.94_1.3.56

I've been hunting high and low for the location of the remote administration check box...without luck. I've read somewhere that the name might also be called Anywhere Access. If so, how/where do I configure this to not allow remote administration? Thanks!

Looking for a "Dummies Guide to VPN"...

Xentrk, Thank you very much for getting back to me. I've being reading various threads on this site and it's impressive what these little black boxes can do if properly motivated! :D Since I'm still in the 'crawl' phase of the program, I've installed the ExpressVPN client on my desktop to get...

Looking for a "Dummies Guide to VPN"...

Wow, trying to get up to speed on VPNs is quite an exciting endeavor! I was hoping to find a "read this first" section to this forum because I'm going to need it! In a nutshell, I've got what I consider to be a very vanilla system (Win10 desktop, Amazon Fire and an Asus RT-AC1900P) with equally...

RT-AC66R replacement needed after magic smoke leaks out

I'll check it out asap. I pressed my trusty old RT-N16 back into service for the interim.

RT-AC66R replacement needed after magic smoke leaks out

Well, no sooner than I got my RT-AC66R tweaked 'just so', I lose it to a near direct lightning strike...gotta love these Florida summers! I've really liked using ASUSWRT since switching to it from DDWRT, so I'd like to continue along this path with a replacement. My wireless needs are quite...

RT-AC66R not allowing upgrade to Merlin

Well, that'll explain it. So much for this idea... Thanks for the answer.

RT-AC66R not allowing upgrade to Merlin

I'm new to Merlin (and the RT-AC66R), having used DD-WRT on my trusty RT-N16 for the past 5yrs. A surge took out my old router, so here I am. I plugged in the AC66R and updated the factory firmware to 3.0.0.4.380_3264-g79f6bde. Having read about Merlin, I thought I'd give it a try before going...
