    Tunnelbroker /48 prefix on Asuswrt

well, I tried /48 again (google is forcing recaptcha on my /64) and it still doesn't work. No idea why. Same exact settings, just the prefix change, and yet /64 works but /48 doesn't. Maybe the router too weak for /48? it's entry level ax55 but it does have a quad-core CPU... maybe 256gb ram is...

    Tunnelbroker /48 prefix on Asuswrt

interesting. I've been actually inputting 1 at the end of the prefix, and it worked for /64 forever, but perhaps not for /48

    Tunnelbroker /48 prefix on Asuswrt

The /48 is to prevent future google bans, google bans tunnelbroker ipv6 for abuse and blocks whole nets, so /64 might get banned with an abuser on a similar subnet. At least that's what HE support said. Can you show me a screenshot of tunnelbroker ipv6 settings without identifiable info? Just...

    Tunnelbroker /48 prefix on Asuswrt

I've been using tunnelbroker forever to get ipv6 (local ISP hasn't evolved to provide it on its own), and been advised by HE support to switch to /48 prefix instead of usual /64, but for some reason the router fails to acquire IPV6 address when I swap out the /64 prefix for /48 one. Has anyone...

RT-AX55 - goog enough for cable WAN 1Gb/s?

I've tested my RT-AX55, WAN to lan did reach 940mpbs but sustained speed is more like 800mbps. The test was two computers running iperf3 with gigabit ethernet connections to LAN and WAN ports on the router.

    RT-AC87U with Digital Elements 8TB

It is unlikely that the drives inside WD Elements are running at 7.2k rpm, most likely they are at the normal 5.4k rmp. However, it is likely you got air-filled drives instead of the helium filled ones which causes higher temps. In the past, WD was putting helium filled drives into externals...

Need help with identifying causes of RT-AX55 crashing

Hmm, the router hasn't seen the update yet for some reason. Thanks for hint. I checked the website yesterday and haven't seen it there either.

Need help with identifying causes of RT-AX55 crashing

No usb ports (I actually never use them lol even on routers that had them) and no merlin support :)

    WiFi for new home

that's where you are wrong. 4x4 matters little unless you got clients to use it, or MU-MIMO clients (the latter, as you mentioned, actually doesn't work at all). As for prices- that's highly dependent on local market conditions. I also doubt that everyone gets that same exact router you...

Need help with identifying causes of RT-AX55 crashing

Just discovered in the log that my brand new spanking router crashed, possibly twice. I can't understand why since the previous events in both cases is just a regular wlceventd. Firmware is the latest available on the website (from Feb 1, 2021). Any pointers would be appreciated as I'm afraid...

    WiFi for new home

But it is faster. The point is, Wifi6 is here. No point in spending money on Wifi5 when any Wifi6 will match all the features and offers something more on top of it. Obviously, if all else being equal (streams, price etc).

    WiFi for new home

actually, when "WiFi-6E becomes common and cheap" wifi7 will be in full swing, official and Wifi7E will be soon to be approved... In other words - the race is always on, there's always something better on the horizon, waiting is pointless, so unless you got money to burn on routers every year...

    WiFi for new home

By that time, Wifi7 will arrive lol

Smart TV Internet connection - WiFi or LAN (with WiFi bridge)?

Not entirely correct. While it's true that average bitrate will not exceed 100mbps, there are plenty of peaks (fast action sequences and such) when it does. In my experience, I found wifi a lot better for streaming any kind of media to TV compared to wired, and I did try both.

    New Router Time

n66 can handle 500mbit via ethernet if you enable NAT acceleration. Wireless will be 220mbit tops, though. I had n66 on 500mbit for a while and didn't really need to upgrade until it started to malfunction lol

    Router choice for 500mbps fiber

I gave up on Tomato a couple of years back after well over a decade of using it and didn't feel the need to go back :) You do what you need to support fiber speed, Tomato, it seems, kinda stuck on old hardware due to lack of open-source drivers to support newer hardware.

    Router choice for 500mbps fiber

I'd suggest considering Asus RT-AX55, the cheapest ASUS router with Wifi6 :) You can reuse n16 as an AP if you need one, "mesh" on the cheap lol

    Bridged Routers configuration question

Yeah, keep the 40mhz channel way away from your other 2.4ghz channel (at 5ghz, it won't matter much) :) 40mhz covers a lot of channels in the 2.4ghz band. I think you have nothing to worry from your neighbors, they too far to affect you unless they are running something super strong lol You can...

N66R wired internet bottleneck when parental controls is turned on

Yeah, I grabbed RT-AX55, cheap but good enough for my small apartment :) Quad-core CPU so I feel like it can handle anything I throw at it compared to the one core in n66 :)
