    2.4Ghz devices keep disconnecting

Is it advised to disable 802.11b on our Asus router?

    2.4Ghz devices keep disconnecting

Extract from "https://www.techtarget.com/searchnetworking/answer/Is-Wi-Fi-6-backward-compatible-Yes-and-no" "So, is Wi-Fi 6 backward-compatible? Yes and no. By definition, the standard says absolutely yes. In reality, most networks are going to be configured in the name of performance tuning...

    2.4Ghz devices keep disconnecting

I for sure don't understand all the details, but Asus is pretty clear about it: "If your IoT devices cannot upgrade to WiFi 6, we will suggest you that turn off some options to ensure better compatibility." --- Referring to the 802.11ax / WiFi 6 mode in your wifi settings.

    2.4Ghz devices keep disconnecting

After some research, it seems common for 2.4GHz IoT devices to have problems with the 802.11ax protocols. I find similar issues on the TP-Link and Linksys forums. Asus basically says it straight that 802.11ax must be disabled (on 2.4GHz bans) for IoT device compatibility. From what I...

Lots of recurring entries in the system log

It is disconnecting with an error regarding the "4-way handshake process". The 4-way handshake occurs when a device attempts to connect to a secured WiFi network using WPA/WPA2 encryption. For some reason in your case, the handshake does not complete and times out. I don't know what that can...

    2.4Ghz devices keep disconnecting

Well, it's now been 57+ hours since I rebooted the router after disabling 802.11ax on 2.4GHz and the problem did not reoccur. I'm not 100% sure, but it's never been "stable" for that long, so I have to assume that the problem is solved. Note that I first tried disabling 802.11ax on 2.4GHz...

    2.4Ghz devices keep disconnecting

Looking at these logs, the event @08:14:30 (that repeats again @08:14:44) could be similar to my problem. I see this is an LG appliance, so probably on 2.4GHz. The last event is also suspect (@10:11:17) -- An Espressif wifi chip, so probably an IoT (smart bulb, etc.), so also 2.4GHz I suppose...

    2.4Ghz devices keep disconnecting

Why would you say that? There's something wrong that I want to solve. This impacts my Epson printer as well. I setup a syslog server and I'm monitoring to see if I can catch an unusual log message before the problem starts. Meanwhile, I disabled 802.11ax on 2.4GHz. Any other idea is welcome.

    2.4Ghz devices keep disconnecting

I tried disabling Smart Connect for a test and that works almost as well. Instead of the router requesting the devices to change band, we rely solely on the device's own algorithm to decide on the best band to select. Most of my devices end-up on the same band as with Smart Connect, except for...

    2.4Ghz devices keep disconnecting

Thanks for the hint. I didn't know about the "Wireless Log" tab yet. Without changing anything, here's my logs on 2.4Ghz (see below). The three devices that cause problems are the Epson and Maytag(s), all of which connect using 802.11n. Based on this, "Wireless Mode: N Only" should not...

    2.4Ghz devices keep disconnecting

The "Wireless Mode: N Only" setting is in the Wireless General tab. But you're right that it only applies to the 2.4GHz band. I realise its a good way to check if an old 2.4Ghz device supports 802.11b/g or 802.11n. If they all still connect, that means they support "n"; And that eliminates...

    2.4Ghz devices keep disconnecting

No, I'm not. Just the basic default ISP-provided DNS. I'm not too sure what the benefits of DoT are, though. Care the explain?

    2.4Ghz devices keep disconnecting

These settings seem rather extreme. Especially when disabling everything above 802.11n, which leaves Wifi 5 and 6 out (!?). There are a few interesting items in this list, though: 1. Enable TX Bursting -- Only affects 802.11b/g devices and I find reports of this causing issues with some...

    2.4Ghz devices keep disconnecting

These connection problems have been there this since I install that router, yes. I schedule a reboot to make sure I recover from power outages. When that happens (for long enough), both my modem and router eventually lose power. And when power comes back, sometimes the router is quicker than...

    2.4Ghz devices keep disconnecting

I have a single router, only two bands and a small number of low-bandwidth devices. I don't think that feature would help me much. This features allows APs and clients to exchange information about the Wi-Fi network environment so that APs can eventually (dynamically) suggest a client to...

    2.4Ghz devices keep disconnecting

Is there a way to do that without disabling Smart Connect? I don't want to disable Wifi 6 on both bands. I can disable Smart Connect, but what happens if I keep the same SSID on both bands, will that confuse my client devices? Will that force me to change SSID name of one of the two bands?

    2.4Ghz devices keep disconnecting

I have two Maytag appliances and they both do the same things. The Epson printer does the same thing too and is just 2 feet away from the router. After a router reboot, I can be many hours without disconnecting problem. When the problem starts, it seems to always be all these 3 devices at the...

    2.4Ghz devices keep disconnecting

Can someone help with this? Many of my 2.4Ghz devices disconnect and reconnect all the time. They're stable for some time after a router reboot, but they eventually fall back into that same situation. See logs bellow. It's a Maytag appliance. I get same problem with an Epson printer. Both...

RT-AX86U - system log spam from Tuya Smart device

I have a similar problem with my RT-AX5400 router. Some 2.4Ghz devices ends-up disconnecting and reconnecting all the time. It can work well for hours or days without this problem, but eventually the problem comes back and the logs get flooded. A reboot usually fixes it for some time. In the...
