15MBps 12" away from AC56U with Merlin .40

What is your view of this performance...

Asus AC56U with Merlin's ".40" stable

5GHz 802.11n connection, 2x2, client is a linux box running Mint 16, 12" away from the router.

Tranferrring 1GB file (ftp) to the shared USB3 WD 500GB connected to the router.

Means out at around 15MBps

Whatever I change in the settings doesnt affect things much.


Any views?

1) You're too close.

2) Transferring to a USB HDD I wouldn't expect much more.

It will depend on the filesystem the USB disk is using, the chipset it is using and the actual file and transfer method (ftp vs. samba, for example) used.
