Hi there,
We’ve successfully set up a site-to-site PPTP VPN between two sites over two ADSL connections, using two Asus AC-68U’s. Each side of the tunnel can ping client PCs on the opposite side, and can access SMB shares on either side of the network.
What isn’t working properly is FTP access from one side of the tunnel to the other.
There’s a specialist piece of software running that requires FTP transfers from one side of the vpn tunnel to the other.
The FTP client on 192.168.10.10 connects to the Filezilla FTP server running on 192.168.5.10, and small files transfer for a while, then the FTP client times out stating that the connection was abandoned. If the transfer is reinitiated, then the client times out straight away.
Disabling the firewalls on the local client PC and the server does not resolve this issue. If we use a third-party software based VPN service to connect the client and server, there are no issues indicating that something on the 68U’s is potentially causing the connection to be eventually blocked.
Is there anything specific I should be looking for in the AC-68U configuration?
General information:
Site 1:
Asus 68u with firmware: 3.0.0.4.380.3831
Subnet: 192.168.5.0/24
Configured as PPTP VPN Server via the basic config option
Site2:
Asus 68u with firmware: 3.0.0.4.380.3831
Subnet: 192.168.10.0/24
Configured as a PPTP VPN Client via the basic config option
