Asus N66W Original and Merlin firmware

Hello, i just bought my new Asus N66W router. I saw that almost everyone is using Merlin's firmware on their Asus routers. My question is simple: Should i upgrade from original firmware to Merlins? Whats main features? I dont use any proffesional settings. I just use IPTV and Wireless for gaming. Thanks for you explains and answers!

Your call but at least update to the latest Asus firmware. Check the firmware for the N66U for the latest. Same router as yours just grey in color.

The biggest feature of RMerlin's firmware releases is the debugging he has done to the official Asus code.

With no other benefits (of which there are many), it is a 'required' part of owning a supported Asus router.
