I use my QNAP TS-239 to record multiple HD TV streams via two USB digital Cable TV tuners. I can record 3 digital cable streams at once, starting a 4rth introduces lost frames across all streams. All this using TVheadend @ http://www.lonelycoder.com/hts/tvheadend_overview.html

I can record 2 streams and perform two read-write streams at once with little perofmrce degredation.

Thanks,
F.

Is the 3-at-once limit a function of the disk cache (or lack thereof) or the processor/USB interface? I'd assume the latter since the sources are still <10 megabytes/sec streaming to the disk.

Presumably a Linux NAS with a Bay Trail CPU or better could handle 4 digital HD feeds from a network tuner setup?
