Is it just me or is anybody having any AIcloud trouble

I just cant connect to it.....when entering the admin username and password on the android app

Ive set up https access on the router if that makes a difference...I believe thats set to port 8443 by default

Tried to manually add the router in the app and still cant connect - even tried port forwarding 8443 too

Any suggestions

The default https port for AiCloud is 443.

When logging, make sure you type admin in lower case. Some Android browsers will automatically uppercase the first A, which will cause the login to fail.

Otherwise, AiCloud is working great here. I used it this weekend with my Android tablet while at a friend's place. Plugged my Android tablet to his TV via HDMI, then used AiCloud to stream a Simpsons episode I had at home. :)

You also have to ensure that your modem isn't a modem-router combo causing a double NAT scenario, cause that won't work with AiCloud.

That would explain it - got that port forwarded to a webserver at the mo

Thanks

try this

Unplug router for 20 seconds, plug back in, retry the aicloud. Tell me if that fixes it. I had same problem...

Aicloud 3G USB

Has anyone been able to get Aicloud to work when WAN is 3G USB modem?

Aicloud works perfectly at home (LAN) but can't get it to work via WAN.
Any tips?

The User Manual and videos only indicate switching toggles on for cloud disk and smart access. I don't appear to need to physically set port forwarding etc.

I've tried logging in to Aicloud after refreshing DDNSthe WAN IP address. It says it hasn't changed since last update. Neither the ip address and https://
[your ASUS DDNS name].asuscomm.com work.

The android app only shows [your ASUS DDNS name].asuscomm.com ie no https: in front....

Any tips would be appreciated.

thanks

Are you sure your 3G IP address is supposed to be accessible from the outside?

Many 3G ISPs block incoming connections (I know because I tried using VOIP over 3G in our summer house).

Just because the IP address is not in a private network doesn't mean it is accessible from the outside.

No problem here - AiCloud works perfectly using a 3G USB modem (Huawei E372) for internet connection...

Btw.: I'm running 3.0.0.4.246.19b (Merlin build) as Firmware.

Ciao

hi gerald
I've the same firmware and use a k4505 .
I've just resetup aicloud Android app via home wireless and got a message saying:
"you may not be able to access aicloud remotely due top your ISP firewall issue, but you can still access aicloud in your home."

did you get a message like this (ie a standard message) or had it detected a problem with vodafone?

my problem must be isp
http://community.vodafone.com.au/t5/Mobile-Broadband/blocked-ports/td-p/30423/page/6

As part of the new direction we’re taking since upgrading our network, it’s not possible to externally connect to your Vodafone service from another connection or provider. We don’t block ports for outbound use, which will provide the bulk of your day to day usage, but there are some restrictions placed on inbound traffic to help protect from unsolicited access. If you're looking to perform any of the above actions, you'll be unable to get through and create a connection.

My ISP ("Drei Hutchinson" in Austria) offers an opportunity to activate "Open Internet" which allows me to gain access to my account via Internet... If I don't activate this option I'm not able to use AICloud from "outside"...

Port 443 is often blocked by many internet service providers for security reasons as the default option. This would explain the ability to connect via LAN (local network) but not WAN (internet). Log into your ISP account and attempt to change the port blocking or contact your ISP via phone.

Knowing that the security behind AICloud is good enough for Merlin, I looked it up at:

I no longer use AiCloud, after the couple of security issues that came up. Take a look at the date stamp of my message that you quoted - this was before a couple of security issues came out.

I use a VPN for any remote access.

Oops. Crikey, thanks, Merlin. (In future, I'll try to remember to check the date stamp. They should demote me to "new around here" for that.)

Many thanks.

Hasn't AiCloud been updated enough at this stage to be secure? Cnet reported back in 2013 that one of the newer firmware updates was going to patch all the holes etc. so did it or is it still hackable?

It has 'cloud' in it's name. Of course it's still hackable! :D

Part of the problem is that a good portion of it is closed source, so nobody can analyze it to determine how secure it is code-wise. As a cloud service, that worries me enough to recommend not using it. Yes, they fixed the biggest known security issues, but since there's been more than one at the time, it's not inspiring me any confidence in the rest of it being more secure.

Cool, well it works pretty well and I'm not bothered about stuff being hacked on it anyway, it's just for movies, music, pictures etc. stuff people can copy or delete or whatever lol
I tried OwnCloud but it was really slow, not sure why, maybe I'll try reinstalling Entware-NG and everything else from scratch again...
Wordpress also takes about 10 seconds to load a decent sized page so using an ASUS RT-AC66U for a PHP MySQL web server is a bit pointless for a medium sized website... OwnCloud seems to be as slow as the Lighttpd web server running Wordpress. Whereas AiCloud is really fast at loading folders and streams within about 3 seconds of clicking a link.
I'm using Entware-NG + Lighttpd + PHP + MySQL + 1GB swap file running on EXT3 USB key with external storage setup connecting to an Elements USB HDD, with all the media on it, plugged into the other USB port on the router. Seems very slow though, I guess you're gonna tell me to use the HDD as an EXT3 partition with OS running off that?
Might need to buy another HDD for that, would an SSD make this little flimsy setup any faster? It's taking 46 seconds to load up my Music folder on OwnCloud which only has about 20 folders and a few files in it... why so long? SQLite is recommended against while installing OwnCloud, any other options to use instead? Also, what memcache can I add that might speed things up more?

Makes me want to finally setup my own dedicated Web Server for hosting Magento, Wordpress, Zencart websites etc.

Thanks for the help :)
