I know a few members here are pleased with the results of flashing DD-WRT on the Asus RT-AC87U routers - but I was wondering if DD-WRT is also recommended on the RT-AC68U router?

Looking to improve wireless range and performance (currently using latest Asus stock fw).

Searching online I've found mixed results but most of the posts were from 2014 and older.

Any harm in flashing DD-WRT on the 68U or should I just stick to stock fw or Merlin's fw?

Have you tried John's fork of Merlin's fw yet? Improved range and performance of the older drivers with security and bug fixes and most of the features of stock.
