Ever wonder what GR-BRCM Preamble was good for?

Apparently some devices do not like the standard Green Field Preamble. 2012 Airport Express would not show up in Airport Utility with Green Field selected (Apple TV 2 was also having issues).

Switching the 802.11n Preamble to GR-BRCM seems to have fixed the problem.

Hope this helps someone one day,
Quad

P.S. This was on TomatoUSB Shibby build, v104-MiniIPv6, on a RT-N66U 5GHz radio.

Sounds more like a bug in the AP WiFi MAC code - if they're doing greenfield correctly, it shouldn't be a problem.

(FWIW - in 2.4GHz with many adjacent AP's, I recommend mixed-mode to reduce interference from the other AP's - long story, but the AP needs to know also if there are neighbouring AP's that are 802.11b/g, or those AP's can jam the channel)
