I am trying to connect to a VPN using the OpenVPN/UDP protocol. I want to use UDP port 8080 (VPN provider advised me to do so) but connecting to the server using this port doesn't work...

Are there settings in the Asus router side that might cause problems connecting to a remote server using UDP port 8080??

Thanks!

No, just select the proper protocol and port when configuring your client. Unless your ISP does some kind of wonky filtering for outbound port 8080 traffic (as it's frequently used by proxies), but it's unlikely.

Check the System Log, it will tell you what is failing.
