Hey Guys

Just wondering do you guys leave your hd that is connect to your router 24/7? Or do you turn it off (unmount) when its not in use? I have a 2tb on a docking station and kinda scare to leave it on all day when not in use. Is it safe, to leave it on? I know that Merlin firmware does spin down the drive when its not in use. Thanks

I would say it's completely up to you.

I've installed optware and created a swap partition on my external HDD so I kinda forced myself to keep it on 24/7. (Since I'm not powering off my router.)

The HDD has been running for a week non-stop now and prior to that it was attached to a raspberry pi which also ran 24/7 as a media center. So far no issues, but perhaps more experienced people can state otherwise.

Just my 2 cents..

I leave mine on all the time. Disks like to spin.
