NAS Software Review?

I am a huge fan of this site and owe most my choices in network gear to your hard work . I was wondering if you would be able to write an article on various NAS software available to build your own NAS (BYON). Just to list a few;

Openfiler
FreeNas
Open-E
Starwind
San Melody

It would be interesting to see feature comparisons and performance data from said sotware options. Keep up the great work and thanks for all the articles thus far.

I very much agree. NAS operating systems and NAS utilities, file systems, etc that run on them would be extremely interesting and helpful to individuals interested in building there own NAS
