^ appears to be a Mikrotik RB951G-2HND, with I'm guessing some custom flavor of linux on it?

The developers said it is based on OpenWRT

"Our firmware is actually built on top of OpenWRT. However many of our features cannot be done using OpenWRT without running our software:

Our Geo-filter obviously cannot be done by OpenWRT.
Our Anti-flood feature is not simply using existing QoS its our own novel algorithm that is NOT based on AQM derivatives. It is not using packet dropping as a method of enforcing rates.
Our advance ping feature use DPI to measure packets(this is more of a PC feature though) and can definitely not be done using OpenWRT
Many of other features cannot be done out of the box using WRT and would require significant work. For example our basic ping host feature(try pinging a host on the Internet, most will drop it). Another example our UI uses devices the entire time users enver have to deal with IP addresses or MAC addresses."

What is Netduma’s Geo-filter?
A global first, you can now set a distance limit for the players you connect to. This guarantees a host close to your home. It's time to say goodbye to a regular high ping and transform the way you play online forever:

How will the Geo-filter benefit me?
The main cause of lag is distance. This is because the packets of data you send and receive can only travel at most at the speed of light. The speed of light is fast, but as the great programmer John Carmack famously said, "The speed of light sucks".

As almost every gamer knows, connecting to a player living a substantial distance from you increases your game's latency.

So what can we do about it?

Given it's almost certainly impossible to make packets travel faster than the speed of light, we have done the next best thing.

With the Netduma Geo-filter, you set a range from your home. Any player outside of that range will be blocked, ensuring only you or another player near you will host the game. This massively reduces the average ping that you, and most of the game's other players, will play on.

Does it really work?
Yes - the filter works on all major games and we are adding games all of the time. Message us @netduma to find out if we have your game covered. If for some reason we do not, we can add it very quickly.

Anything else?
The Geo-filter's power is considerable. Over the coming weeks will show you how it can go even further than lowering your average ping, including its extreme anti-DDoS properties.

It has 5 gigabit ports, but its current throughput with all features enabled is limited to approximately 120mbit/s. This means that you can communicate with other devices at your house at Gigabit speed but if your Internet connection is greater than 120mbit/s our router will be the bottleneck. This should be enough for most connections but make sure it is for you. We are in the process of writing a patch that should at least double the throughput, but that won’t be available for a while.

Just plain wrong.
