I solved the problem.

It was a firmware issue.

The fix was to do a factory reset, then, manually re-enter all settings. (DO NOT upload a saved configuration file.) I took screenshots of everything that had anything different from defaults, but this was still time consuming and a PITA. But it fixed both the "disconnected" problem, and also the NTP problem.

Factory reset fixed it?

I could have told you that! :)

Glad you've got your router in a good/known state again.

Wow. An argument could be made for blocking customer NTP servers but never NTP clients.

I can't see where ATT would block NTP client - server, yes...

Too many OS's use NTP client to keep time up to date...

Hi All

i've been experiancing this problem since months on my RT-AC68U with merlin 386.13 . I have a huawei usb 4G modem without any cable internet, so I used wan usb as primary and I've disabled dual wan options.

I experianced that the internet is being dropped randomly and I could not figure out why. NTP keeps complaining about unable to sync therefore the date was back to may 5 as it has been told in several topics here

but, then letsencrypt disconnected the internet due to unsync time. And then there is a loop.

If I reboot the router it is holding for the internet connection for a while but then randomly disconnects.

I disabled letsencrypt for now, and for the first time in months it is still online for the next morning.

I'll keep you posted.

Did I miss something in the configuration or is it a bug? What do you think?
