Hello,
I need an advice.
I need to provide a WiFi coverage of our parking place where we leave our cars.
The place where I can mount the AP is about 10m higher than the parking and 50m away. (see picture attached)
There is no obstacle between that place and the parking...free view.
I have an internet connection of 350Mbit/110Mbit.
Do you think I could reasonably expect a good coverage ?
Which AP could you recommend ?
It has to be suited for outdoor use.

Thanks !

In theory you need an AP with directional antenna, something like this:

This one has 90-degree radiation pattern for 2.4GHz and 45-degree for 5GHz.

Hello Tech9,
Thanks for the help.
The product on your link is only an antenna, right ?
Which AP can mount that antenna ?

Read the guide - UAP-AC-M + UMA-D
Other option is NanoStation, model depending on your requirements. I don't think you need 5GHz coverage there, 2.4GHz should be good enough.

These are mostly for Point-to-Point applications, but they have AP mode as well. Not sure if all of them, do some research.

Just bought a new car (Tesla) and I need "WiFi" there...don't know if 2.4 or 5....
Thanks for the advice, I will take a look at that product.

You don't need Wi-Fi there. Again, read the manual.

You mean the manual of Tesla ?
Here what they say..

If you have no LTE subscription, the cellphone you carry in your pocket has a Wi-Fi hotspot available. When you get the Update Available message on the screen, use your cellphone. Come on, I had a Tesla 3 toy for 4 months. It was fun to drive and the best tablet stand with built-in battery pack. Wi-Fi at parking spot is not required.

Or park outside a free wifi hotspot for a bit. McDs, etc

(FWIW I had no problem accessing my wifi on a 22nd story apartment from my parking space)

Before you continue, make sure the Tesla WiFi can reach your AP location... you might have to jack it up a bit every time you park. :)
