As far as I can tell the software is set to be permissive by default just on parental controls.
Each device has to be specifically added and restricted time wise.
For the Yandex.DNS the opposite is true. You have to add each device if you want it exempted, and then maybe reboot the router for the settings to stick or take effect. This is actually preferable as it is protective by default when turned on.
The only problem is if you are wanting to hide the blockage, there is no option to set a custom redirect page to something such as 404 page not found that I could locate. Blocking access for teens needs to be a little less obvious to avoid or control confrontations more effectively.
