When I flashed the 3.0.0.4.260.21 build I realized in the end that I didn't set a static IP in my NIC card but I was able to complete the flash. This is strange. Any clue?

Why would you need a static IP? When flashing through the web interface the DHCP lease remains valid, and the router remains accessible through its current IP.
