I'm paying for a VPN, I've setup OpenVPN Client on Merlin's FW and it's working well. However, I haven't setup VPN Server (which I understand when I am outside the house, connects to my home network and tunnels traffic through it, correct?)

If I'm out of the country and have no 3G service, but I have access to public wifi, dumb question...

Which one should I be using when for example, I am making an online purchase in a public wifi spot? Or I want to plug a travel router into the hotel's ethernet? (some hotels block VoIP)
The VPN Server in both cases?
