I've seen some attractive deals on some of the WD MyNet routers lately. I think NewEgg had the N900 for $50 and Staples currently has the N750 for $40. It has me thinking...

I already have a NG WNDR3800 running OpenWRT as my main router, but the idea of having a 3 stream 5GHz to speed backups from my rMBP has been calling to me, and for $40 bucks, it seems hard to resist.

What do people think? how are the MyNet routers as access points? Does the N750 have the same 5GHz hardware and performance as the N900 that has been reviewed here?

I think you want to use the WD router as a bridge to connect to the WNDR3800, correct, not an access point?

The WD routers don't support a bridge mode.

Sorry I wasn't more clear.

I want to put the the My My in AccessPoint mode and wire it net to a LAN port on my WNDR3800 so I can have 3-stream throughput on my mid-2012 retina MacBook pro laptop while still taking advantage of OpenWRT.

Provided, of course, that the My Net N750 makes a decent 3-stream access-point for 5GHz clients. Any evidence for or against that?
