WHS Drive Extender + Addonics Mini Storage Tower?

Hi, I have an Addonics "Mini Storage Tower" (with an esata/port multiplier). I previously just used the setup for spare drives but i recently found out about Windows Home Server "Drive Extender" which sounds like a nifty way to get a faux software RAID 5 of sorts but I was unsure if WHS DE would work with my setup (hence a hesitation to buy WHS). I asked the Addonics support and they were clueless (grunt) so i thought i would post on the forum and see if anyone has tried a similar setup? A possible caveat is that while the storage tower has a esata port i have it connected to an eSATA 2 USB gizmo so i can use it with an older computer (the gizmo was cheaper than a PCI card). Any thoughts on this possible setup would be appreciated!
