The new Zyxel WRE6606 2x2 dual-band Wi-Fi extender is being marketed for homes using wireless networks with growing numbers of smart home devices. The new extender also takes advantage of MU-MIMO technology allowing compatible devices to simultaneously connect to MU-MIMO wireless access points, extenders and routers.
The WRE6606 is an AC1300 wireless device that delivers maximum link rates of 400 Mbps at 2.4 GHz and 867 Mbps at 5 GHz.
Other features for the WRE6606 include a GbE LAN port, three operating modes (access point, extender and client), three boost modes (range, speed and normal) that maximize specific performance factors on the extender, an alternative power option that lets customers use power banks to make their extenders portable, and signal indicators that helps customers find the best place to maximize signal during installation.
The extender is also compatible with Zyxel's One Connect app, which can be used to copy Zyxel One Connect-ready routers' wireless config to the WRE6606, making installation easier.
The Zyxel WRE6606 AC1300 MU-MIMO range extender is available now and has a retail price of $69.99.
