    INFO 509 pro rebuild

New unit came, swapped drives, detected and rebuilt with no problems. It has been up and stable for two weeks now, so it it time to upgrade to the new firmware to take advantage of those awesome read speeds I am seeing posted.

    INFO 509 pro rebuild

I am about to try this pretty soon ... on my second warranty replacement, should be showing up in a few days. More of the infamous "drive x unplugged" errors. Hopefully I will be able to restore the configuration, then swap the drives from the old unit to the new unit and not loose anything...

Router that support Wol over internet

Glad everything is working ... for future reference I have had success with using DDWRT or Tomato firmware flashed on a router which have the same ability. YMMV

TS509 increased Write speeds with latest firmware?

I have noticed a speed increase as well, this is my test via iSCSI; a straight read/write should be faster which I will try and post results. I have a Dual Raid 0 with 15k RPM SAS drives, so I should meet your criteria.

Very BUSY Coffee Shop Wireless Access

In theory, yes, but eventually it all depends on the roaming logic and roaming aggressiveness of the end client. (basically it should, but some crappy devices dont). I think you should use a PC based router to do your dhcp and routing, such as pfSense, M0n0wall, or Untangle. I get the feeling...

    ProCurve Questions

Check referb prices from a legit Cisco reseller, you might be able to afford some of the equipment. If this is going to end up being at the core of your network and you plan on clustering / stacking to expand your port density, make sure you get a switch with a dedicated stacking serial port...

Questions about adding switch to Network

I'll post some general replies, as I am a Cisco networking engineer and do not know much about the Dlink's capabilities. You have to have some device in the network that is identifying and tagging the packets with the 802.1p priority tag (COS or QoS depending and are different but beyond the...

New QNAP products at Cebit 2009

looks sweet !! I cant wait for an RSS BT client ... my ISP (which is awesome in a lot of ways) does not have a news server so SABnzbd wont work for me. No HDMI on the NMP 1000 =( oh well, not that I would stop using my apple tv w/ Boxee & XBMC to stream from my NAS

    [HELP] TS-509 Performance

Most likely it is your NICs in your linux hosts. Get proper Intel Pro server NICs. I see reports that the Dlink can get around 90MB/s so in theory it is capable of the speeds, however remember the "good fast cheap" equation. You get to pick any two. I would personally put a (good, fast [but...

    TS509, Link Aggregation, 3COM 2916 = good

A quick note to add to the knowledge being shared here: My experience with a Cisco 3750G switch (I am a Cisco engineer by trade) and the QNAP load balancing ... My first try since I had not discovered these forms and there really is not any detail on what the QNAP actually supports as far as...
