Using pfSense with a L3 core switch

It actually works even with forwarding I'm using it that way myself in fact. You need to put rules in place though regardless of having pfblocker enabled or not, to redirect DNS queries. Additionally IPv4/v6 and DNSBL DoT/DoH blocklists in pfBlocker also helps. Not perfect but works pretty well...

Breaking Dad's Big Bad Gaming Discussion - For all things to do with PC Gaming !

Yeah some of it is down to product lines. Their high end RAM as far as I know, is not even really well binned for the price. Pretty much paying extra for average ram for looks/RGB with the “Dominator” series, much better alternatives out there if you actually want better timings/dies. Haven’t...

    Thunderbolt / Enclosure

I did watch it clearly, that video is merely referencing the JHL8440 which is all they have available for use. It’s a limitation based on how Intel decided to organize the specific chip not a limitation of Thunderbolt 4 spec. At the same time Sonnet isn’t completely wrong as this is the only...

    Thunderbolt / Enclosure

Pretty sure that limitation only applies to the JHL8440 and not the JHL8540 and JHL8340.

Anyone using Data Channel Offload (OVPN-DCO) on any of your client devices/networks yet?

Looking at OpenVPNs own results it definitely looks like it helps client side, but probably not useful just yet for the average end user with relatively low WAN speeds like myself. Servers/Routers dealing with many clients and large loads will likely see a more immediate effect. It’s still a...

Anyone using Data Channel Offload (OVPN-DCO) on any of your client devices/networks yet?

A Windows PC with a Ryzen 5800 (non x ie essentially an OEM 5700X), later tested on my 2023 MBP 16" and iPhone 14 Pro as well, latter two don't have DCO support on the OpenVPN app.

Anyone using Data Channel Offload (OVPN-DCO) on any of your client devices/networks yet?

Good to see the OpnVPN dev respond. Pretty much in line with what RMerlin said. As for my testing it’s probably useless at my ISP speeds. I no longer have a Comcast gigabit connection. I’m on Fios 300/300 which peaks at like 330 Mbps which the VPN test easily maxed out without breaking a sweat...

Anyone using Data Channel Offload (OVPN-DCO) on any of your client devices/networks yet?

AES-256-GCM is also supported that’s what I used. @RMerlin on their site it says it can be back ported to older kernels, not sure if 4.19 is too old? Found this discussion: Also here’s the test results below from OpnVPN’s website: https://openvpn.net/blog/openvpn-data-channel-offload/ Their...

    What is your mouse?

I have a Logitech G Pro and G903, both are ambidextrous models, if you dislike asymmetry. The 903 is a bit heavier but more versatile, has free scroll, and suits my long fingers better. Had an MX3 Anywhere for work but was too small for my hand.

Anyone using Data Channel Offload (OVPN-DCO) on any of your client devices/networks yet?

I suppose 300 Mbps was too low on WAN side to even make a dent on CPU use with or without DCO. Was like 1-2%.

Anyone using Data Channel Offload (OVPN-DCO) on any of your client devices/networks yet?

I did some iperf testing today with and without DCO on pfsense with an OpnVPN Windows client (seems DCO is enabled by default on the app), so far I didn't see much difference.

Solved RT-AX88U Is USB NVME SSD Supported?

Trying nvme drives might be even worse going from some odd behavior I noticed from experience from my beta testing days, can't speak for all routers, I tested for Netgear. Think my last test with a nvme drive (960 Pro in a Sabrent enclosure w/ Jmicrom 583 chip) was in the RAX120 (in 2019). I had...

How do malware-blocking DNS providers compare?

Try what I mentioned and see how effective it is. It has been effective for me but reason I said for the most part rather than a certainty is that I’m sure one can find ways get around it if they want, ie VPN. Do the following to redirect DNS port 53 for IPv4/v6 first, I forgot to give the...
