Has nothing to do with the chipset - it's the specification itself... watch the whole video again - TB3 and TB4 have the same bandwidth... but end-point treatment changes with TB4 with number of lanes available.
Just something to consider when connecting things downstream from the port - NVME drives are obviously PCI-e devices - one should be fine, but if one is connecting more than one to the same bus...
I did watch it clearly, that video is merely referencing the JHL8440 which is all they have available for use. It’s a limitation based on how Intel decided to organize the specific chip not a limitation of Thunderbolt 4 spec. At the same time Sonnet isn’t completely wrong as this is the only available peripheral oriented chip, so probably just trying to provide a simple explanation to customers.
