Advanced CIA firmware has been infecting Wi-Fi routers for years

It will be interesting to follow this item as we learn more about how it was done... https://arstechnica.com/security/2017/06/advanced-cia-firmware-turns-home-routers-into-covert-listening-posts/

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.66 is now available

wow, I'm the 0th download for the AC-68U. (OMG!OMG!OMG!) Install went super smoothly, I like both the paint and new features and the only hiccup I found in the logs turned out to be something I've had misconfigured for a long while and was quite happy to correct. Thanks for everything, that...

OpenVPN routing stops working when VPN drops

I hardcoded the VPN provider's two publicly available DNS servers under LAN->DHCP->DHCP Server Setting. So given that I was able to switch VPN servers manually and use another one successfully, there wasn't a problem with their DNS servers going down, and I would have expected the router's...

OpenVPN routing stops working when VPN drops

I should add that this is what the log was saying while the vpn was down, on repeat: Apr 23 13:01:55 openvpn[23027]: NOTE: the current --script-security setting may allow this configuration to call user-defined scripts Apr 23 13:01:55 openvpn[23027]: Socket Buffers: R=[122880->122880]...

OpenVPN routing stops working when VPN drops

Recently I've noticed that when my OpenVPN provider server stops working, my two devices that use the VPN lose their internet access. The router's OpenVPN client status stays in a state of "connecting" and the devices aren't routed via the WAN (which I'd love), despite "Block routed clients if...

Sorry if I missed that in the notes, but thanks for clearing it up.

Traffic Analyzer: Different results between Global and Per Device

Just wondering if anyone else is seeing this, but I'm getting very different upload bandwidth results from Traffic Analyzer 's *Global* results and *per device* results. I noticed my Global-Daily results had a much higher upload than I was expecting... my 30 day total was this: Last 30 Days...

    Traffic Analyzer - Statistic PROBLEM

Just want to repeat this information here in case anyone has the same question as I did... I was trying to figure out why I was getting traffic.db showing up in JFFS while I was trying to store my traffic data to a custom location. This clarified what was going on for me.

    Feature request: VPN uptime %

Shame, but no worries. And yeah, it should be pretty straight forward to parse the logs, especially now that I've got remote logging configured. I'll post it here if there's any interest from the other 1 or 2 people. ;-)

    Feature request: VPN uptime %

Just a thought, but for those of us not using exclusive VPN routing, it'd be useful to be able to log in once a week and see how effective the embedded VPN client is at staying up. Currently, I know mine is dropping once in a while, but I"m having difficulty assessing exactly how significant...

Advanced Merlin functions on RT-AC68 invoke screen of death

I noticed that as well. No idea what was causing it, but it doesn't show up in my more recent logs. I've put another set of logs here using 378.56_2 (http://pastebin.com/CDA34yg4), but I've been testing it and it's been working fine so I wouldn't expect anything too usual. Only thing I noted...

Advanced Merlin functions on RT-AC68 invoke screen of death

btw, happy to help debug this problem if you need me to run any diagnostics or test any experimental loads.

Advanced Merlin functions on RT-AC68 invoke screen of death

Fascinating. I tried the latest alpha, but there was no improvement; activation of traffic statistics resulted in pretty much a complete bricking that required the three-fingered factory reset. However, when I regressed to 378.56, everything worked as intended, so it appears you have a...

Advanced Merlin functions on RT-AC68 invoke screen of death

@RMerlin Ahhhh, newbie here, so I just took the latest from the RT-AC68U Mediafire download page, which was 380.57. I'll give the alpha build a try, since I'm bad that way, and will revert to 378 if I encounter any problems. @Nullity Yes, I misposted into this thread and couldn't figure...

Advanced Merlin functions on RT-AC68 invoke screen of death

I've been assuming that the on-board logs were wiped after going through that kind of reset I just put it through, but I've put the entire log here in case it's useful for you (http://pastebin.com/wdT2sXBA). Let me know if my credit card number is in there somewhere. I think it's just showing...
