in that case, what you need to do is factory reset again. then, check for 2.5. then slowly (and painfully) start configuring your router but do it one step at at a time, recording the link speed as you make each change. once it drops to 1gbps. you'll then know whats upsetting it.

Agreed. Only reason is that Asus haven't put my ax11000 on the new firmware so, merlin can't move it over. Signals end of life is looming in the future. Be98 however here uses gnutons fork. Torn between getting that one or waiting it out.
