Script to periodically log 4G signal strength?

We have a remote (rural) site using a TP-Link TL-MR100 4G router and it's going offline more often than usual lately. Since it comes back online without intervention, I am assuming it's a problem with the 4G coverage/signal in the area. The only way I can think of to begin troubleshooting...

Weird symptoms on Mecursys 4G router w/Lycamobile SIM

Thanks for getting back to me. Check it for what? I mean, I looked at it - it said "Vodafone" (specifically, "live.vodafone.com") - the box is greyed out on the router admin page (and is the only option visible on Android), I can't change it. So I'm not sure how this advances the...

Weird symptoms on Mecursys 4G router w/Lycamobile SIM

I'm using a Mercusys MB130-4G router with a (temporary) Lyca Mobile SIM. Lyca apparently uses the Vodafone network, FWIW. In a nutshell, when I connect to the router from an Android phone, it complains "no internet access" - but I can log into the admin page with the phone, and see that the...

    recommendation for AC68U replacement

FWIW I replaced an RT-AC68U with an RT-AX86U Pro last year - it's been good. The new one is a bit more responsive in the UI (not as much as I hoped but...) and at least matches the old one's ability to punch through up to 5 walls in my steel-frame split level house to get to the furthest rooms...

WANFailover Dual WAN Failover Script ***v1.6.0 Released***

Oh I understand that - I was just explaining that my lack of recent experience with Merlin may be why I don't already know whether or not it can send some kind of notification. I can switch our router over to Merlin if necessary. I'll probably buy a second router to keep the first as a hot...

WANFailover Dual WAN Failover Script ***v1.6.0 Released***

Hey - it's been years since I used Merlin so pardon me if this is obvious, but can we configure some kind of notification when failover/failback occurs? I'm using default firmware on an ASUS BRT-AC828 and it doesn't inform you when it switches, so you can continue merrily using your backup 4G...

BRT-AC828 on Internode - can't use USB LTE as failover?

Still no luck with the managed switch, but I have an even crazier scheme... one thing that bugs me is I'm still dependent on the router (not that I've ever had a router fail on me). But coming up with a multiple-router setup for a 4-5 user office is pretty ridiculous overkill (!) so I'm now...

    BRT-AC828 Let's encrypt authorizing issue

I ran into something - if not related, at least in the same area. My screenshot (originally posted elsewhere): I'm able to go ahead and use the ASUS DDNS without this. What aspect of security am I missing out on? I understand it's a self-signed certificate, so it doesn't really help...

BRT-AC828 on Internode - can't use USB LTE as failover?

FWIW I couldn't get the managed switch to work. I saw on another forum that someone had an idea to configure a port as untagged and another port as VLAN2, to sort of filter the packets between the modem and the router. Seemed to make sense to me, so I bought a Netgear GS-305E 5-port managed...

BRT-AC828 on Internode - can't use USB LTE as failover?

Plugged into the HFC modem without any VLAN2 adjustment, the router reports "Your ISPs DHCP does not function properly" - on the plus side, I'm able to write this reply 'cos it switches to the backup dongle just fine... So back to the original plan B - try to set up the switch. Will get back...

BRT-AC828 on Internode - can't use USB LTE as failover?

Because... (I'm onsite now and gave it a shot, this is the result...)

BRT-AC828 on Internode - can't use USB LTE as failover?

I followed a guide on how to set it up. On my DSL-AC68U at home, I had to reflash with Merlin and then use a UI hack to get it to select VLAN2. Since the BRT-AC828 has no DSL modem, it was slightly easier. I'm looking for the guide I used originally; the link on the Internode site leads to...

BRT-AC828 on Internode - can't use USB LTE as failover?

OK, bumping this as I get the impression no one's run across my combination of circumstances... I've purchased a small Netgear managed switch. I'm told I can use it to remove the VLAN tagging on incoming packets (and vice versa), just put it between the router and the NBN modem. In theory...

BRT-AC828 on Internode - can't use USB LTE as failover?

Hello all - I'm running out of places to ask so I'm hoping someone here is able to help! We're using a BRT-AC828 at our office and we're on HFC from Internode. It works fine, though with Internode's VLAN2 we have to use an Ethernet port rather than one of the LAN ports. After puchasing a...
